Today at 1:05 AM Alaska Time, summer officially ended and fall began,
which can mean only one thing. It’s time to start thinking about
coming up for our Alaska Summer Solstice Tourneys in June 2012. We
haven’t finalized the venue or the dates yet, but please keep us on
your radar screen. In the meantime, check out our website for
information from our 2011 tourneys.
I wanted to also take this opportunity to give a belated public thank
you to Keri and Ethan from DEO Speedwaggin’ along with Lindsey and
Travis from RUFF who were our first return visitors after having made
the trek up here in 2009. Thank you also to first time summer
solsticer Steven from DEO. Without these great folks from Region 19,
we would not have been able to set a new record for the largest
tournament ever in Alaska–7 teams!
Speaking of records, did you know there were numerous new records set
at our most recent Alaska Summer Solstice Tourneys?
– Fastest time ever in Alaska: DEO Speedwaggin’ ran a 16.74, which
shattered their record of 18.08 from 2009.
– Fastest split ever in Alaska: Bree (Border Collie) with Pawsitive
Synergy, our region’s fastest dog, ran a 3.84.
– Fastest split ever by an ADGW dog: Toby (Labrador Retriever) ran a
4.11, in his debut no less.
We also tied our record for the most FDs earned with four, which
hasn’t happened since Alaska’s very first tourneys in 2006. It was
indeed a very eventful four days of racing.
You definitely don’t want to miss out on all the fun next June!
