Flyball demonstration at Paws in the park at Solana Beach, California on March 15, 2009. Flyball is a dog sport in which teams of dogs race against each other from a start/finish line, over a line of hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball to be caught when the dog presses the spring loaded pad, then back to their handlers while carrying the ball. Flyball is run in teams of four dogs, as a relay. The city of Solana Beach, California hosts the third annual Paws in the Park on March 15, 2009. Tail-wagging favorites include flyball relay races, flying disc dog demonstrations and contests. The day would not be complete without animals up for adoption finding good homes. The Neuter Scooter performed low-cost spay and neutering operations for cats, dogs and rabbits.
Flying “disc dogs,” pet contests, a Bernese Mountain Dog demo and more are part of the tail-wagging day for pets and their owners.
