Want to go for a run? The First Annual 5K-9 for Freedom Service Dogs A 5K Race, in conjunction with the Colorado Scottish Festival Sunday, August 05, 2012 will be held at 8:30 am at the Highlands Ranch, CO. All dogs welcome! All proceeds to benefit FSD! This will be the first day of International Assistance Dog Week | August 5-11, 2012.
The Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games host the first annual 5K-9 to support Freedom Service Dogs, a local non-profit. For 25 years, Freedom Service Dogs has been rescuing dogs from shelters and training them to be service dogs for people with disabilities, including veterans with post traumatic stress disorder and other causalities of war.
Freedom Service Dogs (FSD) enhances the lives of people with disabilities by rescuing dogs and custom training them for individual client needs. We provide lifetime support to our client-dog partners to encourage increased independence and the loving, therapeutic bond between canine and human.
This race includes a division for runners, a division for walkers, and a division for rollers (wheel chairs), and dogs are welcome to run with you, encouraged to come with.
T Shirts, Race pictures and a pass to The Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games. Winners will receive their awards at the Noon Day Ceremonies.
The finish line will be at the north end of the park, just north of the Flyball Tournament. Yes, it will slightly over lap Sunday morning’s races, but I bet we can find a way to support anyone running in the race!
Register now, and begin collecting pledges for an awesome organization! We are also on the hunt for sponsors, if you know an individual, organization or company who would be interested in supporting the race through a sponsorship, please drop me a line!
