2011 NAFA CanAm Financial Figures Show $4,000 Loss

January 20, 2012- Raleigh, North Carolina

NAFA Treasurer, Nancy Garcia reported CanAm 2011 was a great success. Compared to the 2010 competitions, team entries remained the same. Fewer sponsorships and increased expenses for paid box judges and other workers accounted for a $4,221.87 financial loss. The CanAm planning committee sincerely appreciated those that did volunteer to serve as line judges and in other capacities. There was an overall decline in volunteers therefore workers were hired to assure that the jobs/chairs would be filled. In addition, there was a one time capital improvement expense that was authorized. (e.g. pole mounts for the TVs).

A number of ideas were discussed to bring the 2012 CanAm closer to a breakeven point.

Over the course of the past 6 years, NAFA’s National flyball championship events (Cynosports & CanAm) have posted a financial loss in each year except 2010, which showed a very modest $300+ gain. The combined 5 year losses total over $40,000, a figure equal to 4 EJS systems.
